This nice little piece is closely inspired by a picture I found. I reduced it and traced it to canvas as I wanted to experiment a little with some ink and scraping technique. First it was titned with a mixture og sepia ink, dark rum, white spirit and red/yellow ecoline then when dry I started scraping in the highligts in the face and the hair and with the whole of the blade I lifted the higher midtones in the face and upper body. Then i drew in the darkest detail: hair, eyes, nosrils mouth. I was a little unluckey with the lips as I experimented by using a bic ball pen... and an ugly big black blob came out. I tried to lift it off the surface but it just smeared to the whorse. She was a real beauty before and it was a bit foolish of me to use a bic on a painting this small... but, hey! It got me to grunge everything up by staining with colored water, sepia blobs anf some red splashes. I kind of like it that way.
