Flemming Hansen

After finishing my education as a carpenter, a building architect and then an academic architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Arts in 1965, I worked intensely with architecture. First I worked as a project architect, mainly with high school projects, then had my own practice doing high school projects, a shopping center and single-family houses amongst more. I did architectural competitions and I was awarded for the Nordic House at the Faeroe Islands and the Clubhouse at Rungsted harbour. Later I rediscovered painting and graphic. I had been doing a lot of this, under the guidance of Sculptor Nicolai Hansen, Architect Keld Bonfils and Painter Thorkild Ebert, before I was accepted at the architecture school. Architecture was for many years my whole life, but it is with great interest that I in resent years have rediscovered painting again. I work with drawing, watercolour and painting. I always work directly in front of the motive; buildings, landscapes or in the studio with physical models. The aim is to record the feeling, movement and rhythm, where the composition of colour plays the crucial role. I am a member of Akademisk Arkitektforening m.a.a. and Danske Arkitektvirksomheder.
