This is the first piece of a series that aims to uncover the secret life of glamorous, and somewhat bizarre insects, who, just like some of us, feel the need to add an air of importance to every little mundane thing they do.

Here, the elderly aunt-mantis (seated), enjoys the company of her two nieces, who supposedly came over for a cup of tea. However, their poses and glances imply that this is a conspiratorial meeting, rather than an ordinary, family one. Whom they conspire against though, we will never know.
