Ukraine

This piece is made out of a section of a map from the country of Ukraine. The map is in the Cyrillic alphabet. I painted a sheer white wash over the map. Next, I applied gold leaf over the edges. I painted pink and used gold and black markers to draw on top. I wanted to make note that Ukraine is the number one producer of sunflower oil in the world but using my own favorite colors and stylized sunflowers. The entire piece is encased in clear packing tape to make it durable enough to be handled as an art currency. It is signed on the back.
