NATURAL AND NECESSARY
To me, drawing and painting has always seemed as natural and necessary as breathing, a totally natural language, a dialogue which bridges time and space, gender and age. I relish the process and for me it is a labour of love. I do not so much produce as paint what will be painted, waiting attentively and respectfully for the next picture to make itself felt.

BACKGROUND
I trained at the Copenhagen Academy of Arts and Crafts (Kunsthåndværkerskolen) from 1965-1969. My tutors included Erik Clemmesen, Helge Kühn-Nielsen and Victor Isbrandt. For many years I have worked as art director in various advertising agencies in Copenhagen, have undertaken artistic assignments for art publishers and other commercial concerns, taught artistic and presentation techniques to designers and I have also taught art therapy. In addition to my artistic training I am qualified within gestalt therapy, which has increased my understanding of our inner vision.

INSPIRATION, COLOUR AND FORM
As an artist, I strive to achieve simplicity. I prefer the large format which influences both the observer and space in a way which is impossible to ignore. My palette is simple and full of contrast, dominated by white and black. When I consciously choose colour, this in itself is a powerful comment on the work.
In addition to oils and acrylics Indian ink, in endless variety, is a source of inspiration and absorption.

ART SCHOOL
Because I personally experience intense pleasure in expression through the visual arts I also teach painting and drawing in small classes adapted to the students individual interests and level.
